Great GP

One of the best GP in the world, there's no doubt. View from Gold 8 was excellent. Thursday's pit lane walk wasn't as I expected. Everyone can get in without control of tickets, so it was crowded. Everything on circuit is expensive, but on the other hand I was satisfied with WC and so on.

Really enjoyed the experience

my advice would be to arrive really early as i did,if you haven,t been before, the security people tend to be a bit vague when giving you advice, completely different if you have been before,i could have arrived an hour later and still get the same viewing place,

Absolutely great with a little trouble

The race itself and organisation of the race itself was without any trouble or difficulties. But the transport to the circuit by bus starting in Verviers was quite bad and they did not provide enough buses for all the people going there. Next time i would recommend to bring more buses to Verviers to satisfy all the people wanting to go to the circuit

Good event but parking ridiculous

Paid in advance for Yellow 4, 5 & 6 but sent to a different car park on Saturday and had to pack on verge on Sunday

Row 1 is not a covered stand

Gold 8, Row 1 is not a covered stand! There was no shadow, and there was no rain protection this weekend. And it's a lot of money. Discount?

The best experience ever

The tickets were great. Could not ask for better seats. Top row . I was with my brother from Germany just the two of us. We could see the start, finish line , plus looking in the first bend. So sorry for the Dutch, some left early after Max left the race. In years to come, I would do it again. The only disappointment, the autograph session. It was impossible to get close to the driver. Maybe one day at goodworth. Belgium people were very helpful and great to be with, thanks again Franz Brueger

Seats perfect

We purchased gold 8 grandstand tickets and were very pleased. The seats allocated to us looked directly down the starting straight. Only negative is that people seem to need to get out (blocking you view) constantly even during the racing which I've not experienced in general admission spaces. We also purchased yellow camping facilities were not as bad as suggested prior to going however on arrival we were asked for a 20euro deposit which we'd get back if our pitch was left clean, they didn't check just asked us to confirm at end, and money was reimbursed but we weren't told in advance and it seemed strange. Other annoying thing was amount of noise - music, fireworks and loud obscure comedy playing at all hours, this wouldn't be so bad but we'd been given rules on arrival saying no music after 10pm - no point giving rules if they aren't enforced! I'll be back to race but probably avoid the camping.

Third time and didn't dissappoint

This year was my third visit to the Belgium Grand Prix and chose La Source (after meeting three Belgium guys in 2012 that have become firm friends) who recommended La Source and was not disappointed with view of the start / finish straight and the run down to Eau Rouge. Block B is the best view and the higher the better; I was in Block A Row 7 and fencing partially blocked views. Block B gets clear view all the way down the pit lane and you need to be about Row 10 to get unfettered views of the track. Having said that I wasn't disappointed! They have moved the camp site this year and the new location wasn't great, also stewards their were aggressive and miserable, which was a shame. This years event was subdued in comparison the the last two visits, due to high terrorist threat. The pit walk was extremely busy, with huge support from Dutch fans of Max Verstappen.

Great track, great race, awful facilities

My wife and I attended, Fri, Sat & Sun. Flew UK to Amsterdam and drove a hire car down to Spa. Great view of grid, pits and La Source hairpin from the Gold 8 stand. Now for the not so great stuff. 1 - Car Parking - this was a joke. We paid for 3 days of parking and received a4 sized paper tickets with parking location (different each day) and bar codes which we were told would be scanned and we'd be directed to the right car park. We did end up in the right car park on Friday - but I think because it was less busy. On Sat & Sun once we had taken the appropriate exit off the main road, we were just directed into the next available field and on Sunday we seemed to be miles from the circuit. The walk was very hilly and steep and was over a mile from the circuit entrance we needed to be at. No one had bar code scanners and officials just shouted at you to get into the next field. It was pretty slow getting out and we left right on the chequered flag - so don't hang around. 2 - Food. There was hardly any choice. Burgers, Hotdogs and Chips was about it from a really small number of little vans and stalls. Stupid system that you had to buy tickets first which you then exchanged for the food/drink. The queues were horrendous. It took us over an hour in 90 degree F heat on Sun to get a burger. There just isn't enough outlets or people serving. Hardly any choice. 3. Circuit Access. Trying to move around the circuit was hard. There were huge bottlenecks where people crushed together going in opposite directions. We tried for 20 mins to get from La Source to the main village area and gave up because of the crush in the heat. Also it seemed you have to sit in your designated seat every day - no wander around on Fri/Sat - it was hard to work out because there was more queuing to get scanned into each section AND when you left (so at the end of each race you were in another queue just to get out of the stand - and if you were in need of the loo - tough .. not that you wanted to use the toilets ... 4. Toilets - oh my gawd. If you think the queues for food were bad this was ridiculous. They had some pay toilets near Gold 8 on Friday - which were out of action on Sat and back on Sunday but the queues were terrible. The non-pay ones were even worse and frankly they were horrible - no paper, no flushing, full to the brim of excrement and the stink in the heat was shocking. Again - just not enough of them, not maintained. The whole event seemed really badly run. Most of the "officials" in the stands and around the public areas were young girls (and I mean they looked about 15 or 16 - probably locally hired school kids). There seemed nothing going on in the evening around the circuit - so no reason to hang around - so everyone leaves at once. Compared to Silverstone (and that has its problems) Spa is completely amateurish. I would not go back and we spoke to a lot of people who said the same. Having paid for GOLD tickets you expect at least the basics.

Spa a great location which is steeped in history

What an amazing place to watch a Formula 1 race, I am still in amazement at the dramatic location of Spa Franchamps circuit. Standing at the bottom of Eu Rouge and watching a formula 1 car speed up such a high gradient is a view to behold. We sat at Source Gold 8 I would highly recommend this view as their always seemed to be drama at this first corner (Kimi/Max/Seb contact was fantastic in the main event). We stayed in Liege and used public transport to get to circuit each morning, trains from liege to Veriers come almost every 20mins and take 20mins duration then a TEC special transport shuttle took us just outside the track 45 mins transfer. The traffic around the track was particularly busy with the shuttle buses getting preference from the police traffic control. The only few issue we had with the track was the lack of toliets with some toliets needed to be payed for (70 cents). Also the food available was not much choice either burger, chips or hot dog and you had to use circuit food tickets to purchase the food. So to get food you had to que for food tickets then que for your food seemed very strange setup. But on whole I would throughly recommend the Belgium Grand Prix a gorgeous place steeped in history with great racing to boot. A truly fantastic weekend.

Brilliant race, best F1 GP track. If going to Spa book your accommodation south of the track for ease of access and exit. Also make sure to purchase your parking from the ticket vendor unless you like walking great distances.

Great racing, view from our seats absolutely brilliant. Food facilities at circuit rather poor and expensive for the quality provided. This is a circuit every motor racing fan should visit.

Spa F1 2016

A few useful facts and hints about a marvellous weekend. Booked Yellow parking 6 to be near La Source where our grandstand was. We found that this carpark can fill-up (despite you having purchased your place) and you'll be directed to park elsewhere at random - In our case this was toward the top of the track above eau rouge. In heavy footfall, like on race day, this is an hours steep and slippery walk away!! Grandstand Gold 8. Great view down the start grid and through La Source up into eau rouge. Be aware though, that if you are in Block A, all rows from seat 20 back to 15 the sun is ferocious from about 14.00 and there's no shade. I'd hazard a guess that if Spa has bestowed a rainy weekend on you, there's a good chance you'd get wet there too!! However, a great location if you are keen to run down the start straight for the presentation on the podium. Of course I did and it was well worth it too. If for nothing else, to see Mark Webber drinking champagne from Daniel Riccardo's boot!!! And a beaming Lewis Hamilton finishing 3rd from place 22 start. And then....after the race and the one hour track walk back up eau rouge (yes, you can walk the track - we carefully inspected the damage caused by Kevin Magnusson) to finally relocate our car, which we achieved at about 17.00. We then waited and waited until the police finally cleared the roads and we were able to set off home at 20.30. That said, there was a lot of humour, good spirited high jinx and great camaraderie from all nations where the delay was taken casually without a single incident of frustration was witnessed. Would I do it again in 32C heat, over 3 days knowing all of the above? In a heartbeat :0

Another great visit to SPA

This was our 6th time at Spa, first time in the Gold 8 Source grandstand. We were a bit worried as we'd had great seats in the pit grandstand previously and we wanted to make sure that we still had a good view. As it turns out the seating was perfect. Row 14. Just high enough to see over the fence. The only downside was that we couldn't see the Giant TV screen clearly (the pit one was clearer), but a quick visit to a shop after practice to buy some mini binoculars and we were sorted. Otherwise, another fab weekend, and for once, spectacular weather.

First time at Spa.

Had 3 seats in Gold 8, Block A, Seats 15,16 &17. The pit walk on the Thursday was very crowded and difficult to pass along the garages, we felt this lane should be 'one way traffic' as it was a real crush especially when people were trying to go against the flow. The entry on the next 3 days was good and parking in 'yellow' car park was no problem. View from Gold 8 was very good, possibly better from Block B but we had no complaints. Screens not so easy to see as when we were at Austin so I was glad to have my binoculars. A great weekend.

Poor organisation of parking and of people/crowd movement throughout event.

Great Race and a fantastic venue site with massive potential. Let down by poor crowd control. The pit walk on Thursday was dreadfully organised with more focus on stopping people walking on the small grass strips by stewards who were having more fun riding quad bikes, than doing the job at hand. Movement was hindered by very slow check points in and out of stands with two male stewards on the entry/exit control (Gold 8 Stand) who really should be employed somewhere else. Car park management on race day exit was non existant after 4:30pm and took over two and a half hours to get of the car parks and out onto main roads. On the entry of the circuit site to Gold 8 stand, from the small roundabout down past the drivers hotel, there were a number of incidents as cars that were going in/out were mixed with pedestrians no barrier for lane separation, the police were called as tempers went high and trouble started. The facilities were good, plenty of food place, good shopping areas, and enough toilets etc. It is never easy with large numbers of people and always feels busy, which is good, but something was fundamentally missing to allow smooth movement. The experience was spoiled and movement felt hassled, we would not wish to go to Spa again for this experience. Others manage it well (Canada) so Belgium/Spa have some way to go.

Spa 2015 - Source 8

Access to the circuit for this grandstand is easy and has an entrance for grandstands 1,2,7 & 8 only just passed Le Source hotel, which means avoiding the masses at El Rouge entrance. The seats are well positioned on the first corner and a large screen is visible to watch the races. Whilst I appreciate ticket allocation is not guaranteed, I was slightly disappointed that even though requesting high seats we were given row 3. This meant that not only where we behind the fence for taking any pictures, whilst the grandstand was covered the first 5 rows were open to the elements, in this years case full sun all day. Overall had an excellent weekend with some good racing.
