Spa 2019

Fantastic track, takes a bit of time getting to from Brussels. I asked BookF1 for specific seats and they did not fail to deliver! We sat at Gold 3 and had a great view. I have been using BookF1 for a few years and will carry on doing so. Thank you BookF1!

Disappointed

Bought what we thought were good seats on turn 3. View very disappointing as we could only see limited section because not enough slope in the stand. Max crashed in front of us and we couldn’t even see. The ‘big’ screen was so small and so far away we couldn’t read it. Limited food options. Poor and dangerous access. Many patrons smoking within the non smoking stand. We selected to stay in Spa, unfortunately there was no transportation to and from the track.

Not good stand

We booked tickets for gold aue rouge thinking gold would have the best view of the bend, not good, the stand has not enough slope,we were in row 17 all we saw was the cars coming down the short straight ,when they arrived at the corner all we got a glimpse of the very top of the cars we could not see the track. and that was only when the crowd didn’t stand. The cheaper silver stand down the hill had a very much better view..I would not go back to this stand the general entry tickets had a very much better view than us.

Close but definitely no cigar

This Grand Prix has been on my bucket list for some time, especially being able to see the drivers negotiate Radillion. I had done some research before going, this had made me aware of the reservations others had raised about attending the Grand Prix, in particular watching events from the Gold 3 stand at Radillion. I'll quit rambling and get to the point: Visibility from Gold 3, especially towards the back is very poor - you get a great view of the cars heading out of La Source heading down towards Eau Rouge, then they disappear from view. You cannot see the cars negotiate what you have paid your money for. One option is to stand next the security fencing to the left of the stand and view from there - get there early though these are prime spots! Access to the course by rail/bus via Verviers was far better that I had feared it would be The atmosphere on the Sunday was good/very good Food and drink - the food available was OKish to poor, Unless you bring your alcohol (no glass bottles) you got a choice of Heineken or Johnny Walker + Fever Tree, that was it - very poor. You couldn't even get a glass of wine. Corporate sponsorship sucking any diversity and choice away from the paying public. Access around the course - its a stunning location for such a track, far better to see it in real life (as opposed to being stuck in front of your TV). Given the location and general environment, I thought that they have done a good/very good job of letting people move around the course. Would I go back for a second helping? Maybe, not to Gold 3 as it is currently set up though - a waste of a serious amount of money.

Impressive

Circuit, general facilities, even the food, were magnificent. Great venue for general admission, with excellent vistas created by the situation of the track in natural amphitheater. Big negative was the grandstand. Travelling from Australia, thought it was worth shelling out for good seats. Went for the top of eau rouge. Problem is the stand was no where near steep enough, so the action happened below the stand, rather than in front. Gave up and watched from general admission.

Stunning track with many great vantage points

We sat in Eu Rouge Gold which had a great view of the hill and lead in. Unfortunately the grandstand orientation did not allow much of a view into the T5 exit where incidents tend to occur also our nearest screen was also right down opposite T3 which too far for a reasonable view. Having now attended the event my opinion is that a grandstand is probably not necessary. With the changing levels there are lots of great vantage points throughout the track in general admission many of which had large screens closer than our grandstand. Even without the screen you could get an F1 FanVision for Saturday/Sunday and still save significant $$ from a grandstand. It was also great to note that the track had Wi-fi throughout which was free and pretty reliable. Fanzone was great and food options were good albiet expensive.

Eau Rouge

What a fantastic weekend in Spa!! I ordered grandstand gold 3 tickets for my husbands 30th and asked book f1 if they could arrange the best seats. They said that they cant make any promises but we ended up with front row seats right in the middle in front of the TV! Couldn't have had a better view of Eau Rouge. I arranged our own campsite called l'eau rouge which was about a 20 minute walk to the red car park and a shuttle bus from the campsite ran from 7-7 to drop us to the car park which was really handy. would highly recommend book f1 if wanting tickets for a special occasion.

Fantastic experience!

Love Spa, great circuit and fantastic atmosphere. Eau Rouge is a great place to sit, our seats were a bit further back than last time and we could not see as clearly.

Great location too much walking from camp site to grandstand

Great spectacle, especially qualifying, weather affected! How are seats allocated in the grandstand, we booked early in Gold 3 (great location) yet were sat in row 22, would have chosen to be closer to the track say row 8-10 but how is this decided?

Great circuit. Easily booked. Enjoyable weekend.

Booked online which was easy. Tickets didn't arrive until about 10 days before race so I had to chase them. Lanyards promised were McLaren branded but the ones received were BookF1.com branded. No problem getting into the circuit or the Gold3 grandstand. Were warned about the delays getting into and out of the car parks and so left slightly early to avoid worst of that. All good really.

Amazing circuit - awful seats

Booked weekend grandstand tickets and camping at the yellow site through F1.com. Camp site was interesting to say the least! Quite cramped and noisy compared to a normal site but really good fun. About a 30 minutes walk to our grandstand and saved all the queues to get in and out by car. Toilet facilities not for the feint hearted though. This was our first time at the Spa circuit which we thought was truly amazing and a great place to watch F1. The only downside to the weekend was our grandstand seats at Eau Rouge ( Gold 3) which cost us £398 each. We took the trouble of watching previous races etc and decided the best seats were low down on the right hand side of the stand - so that's what we asked for when we made our booking by phone. The seats we got were high up on the left hand side which afforded an awful view. We could see the cars coming down from La Source and then they just disappeared under the front of the stand. We ( and quite a few others ) ended up watching the whole race standing by the catch fencing inside the grandstand enclosure by the marshals hut. My advice - buy your tickets direct from the organiser - that's what I've always done at Silverstone - get the seats you want.

The Highs and Lows

We enjoyed the racing we saw, we enjoyed seeing the Mike Shumaker tribute around the track, and most of all we celebrated a Lewis Hamilton win, we met some great people in and around the stand and even on the commute in and the Weather was perfect. Now for the lows. We stayed in Liege and commuted to Vervier on an excellent train service. We did the pit walk, which was very chaotic and as we had never attended one before thought it would be more organised than it was, with several bottlenecks at the Mercedes and Ferrari garages and people were not being encouraged to move on. So note to self, will not be attending one again. Sadly Friday morning having arrived at Vervier early, paid our money for the shuttle bus, which was overcrowded on each day, and the traffic in and around the circuit was so nose to tail we missed the 1st few events, and in the heat some people pleaded with the driver to let them out and walked the rest of the 5km or more to try and get to the circuit quicker. To cap it all, we were told the last shuttle buses would leave at 6pm which meant we missed the last events too, as we had to make our way back to the bus pick up points. Race day we left even earlier and paid for a taxi from Vervier to the track, and whilst the traffic was still bad, we still made it in time to see a full day racing, and for the first time in 3 days saw the Porsche Super Cup that we had missed previously. With the racing over by 4.30 we were able to walk to the bus pick up point to pick the bus up, and sat on that packed like Sardines in the heat, which took 1hour and a half to get out of the area, which to be fair with the amount of people there, we would expect with everyone leaving the circuit more or less at the same time. It is a wonderful track to watch racing, it is just a shame that the infastructure around the circuit is poor and i know of some people that took 5 hours to get to the circuit on the shuttlebus arriving just in time in their seats for the main F1 race which is sad as they had paid hoping to see a full 3 days racing. I appreciate that a lot of this is out of the control of yourselves but i really do think that something needs to be done to get us into the circuit on time.

Great event, again next year

Great race, you can see races pretty good from whatever seat. Camping area could have electricity for caravans and there could be more tents with food and drink. Also there could be more variety for food and drinks on race event itself.

Great experience

Before I booked for the spa weekend I read many reviews that were critical of different aspects of the weekend, even the toilets, showers or track...... Our group have had a brilliant weekend with only one real criticism but I'll come onto that soon. The campsite (yellow) was a local football club that had access to some farmed fields. In these fields is where we were guided to set up our tent, at first we thought that we wouldn't have enough room as it's a very large tent but actually with a bit of friendly charm to those around us we managed to get pitched and sorted. This again is a field so is a little lumpy and bumpy but nothing really to bad. The yellow campsite was sold as a slightly quieter family type campsite, which on the whole it was, apart from a few groups who had brought big sound systems and blasted heavy rock music until the early hours which in our opinion wasn't managed well enough by those in charge. These are long days at the track and the majority of people want a good nights rest....... however after we had a 'word' with them at 2am one morning they seemed to respect it and quieten down a little for the rest of the weekend. The toilets a porta cabin types and were deep cleaned at least twice a day, a perfect time to use them. On the whole they were fine, but be prepared for the normal communal toilet smell, and take your own toilet roll for sure! The shower we again in 3 porta cabin, we had mixed results with these first and 3rd day were really hot and good power , 2nd and 4th day cold. However the club house had to changing room that each had a communal shower with 4 shower heads, I used these on all days but the first and had lovely hot and powerful shower, but not all like communal changing rooms showers! We ate at the club house on the bissiest night, and wish we hadn't, it wasn't the best food sadly but then we got there when it was busy.......we did however find a great takeaway restaurant and some small delicatessen in the village that were great for food. At the track, again we found on the whole the toilets to be an ok experience, occasional queues but nothing to bad. The food at the circuit was of a good standard also, all be it fast food, but there was choices of the usual chips, burgers, sausage and others like fruits, pizzas, Chinese and veggie options....again not as I read before I went. The track is amazing, have a walk round it's beautiful in the trees and forest, we had great weather which made it even better. We had tickets for Gold 3, which was ok but slightly disappointing. The stand looks over Eua rouge but sadly the stand isnt raked steep enough so as soon as you get a few rows of people sitting in front of you, you start loosing sight of the cars coming up the hill towards you, everyone stands and then you are just looking at people's head! However you do have a good, if somewhat distant view, back towards turn 1. On the whole a great weekend, well worth the journey and frankly if booking early enough the money.

Great seats, shame about venue organisation

Great atmosphere, seats in Eau Rouge amazing. Unlike other venues seats are not inclined sufficiently so you have to stand up to see thereby upsetting people behind. When I booked I also booked appropriate parking which wasn't available on any of the days over the weekend this meant on the Sunday we had a 45 minute walk to the track. Organisation overall was poor from arriving at the track to find my allocated parking closed to the men's toilets overflowing all over public areas. Given that parking is a significant cost not impressed. Also took over two hours to leave the track we moved about 6ft in an hour! All that said the on track action was awesome.

Disappointed

Terrible queues to get to and from the circuit. We left Spa at 07.45 on race day and got in to the the circuit 2 Hours later. Going back took even longer. I suggest that anyone who goes in future tries to stay in Francorchamps and takes bikes. Unlike Barcelona there were no shuttle busses. The catering facilities were excellent though as expensive as usual, €14 for a beef burger and €3.50 a bottle of water. We were in au rouge and unfortunately our view was totally ruined by the idiots who insisted on standing up every time a car came. I'm small so I couldn't see a thing ? . Next time I'll buy seats right at the front and just get wet if it rains ! F1.com have been brilliant as usual. Many thanks to them for their help with the minor issues we had prior to leaving the uk ?

Great circuit, awful facilities - only for die hard fans (with lots of cash)

Bought Gold 3 covered grandstand seats - over £400. The good. The seats were enough to see more than bronze (general access) and sheltered from the elements (sun or rain, unlike silver). The views down Eau Rouge and right back to La Source hairpin were okay, but near track action somewhat was obscured (from row 13 of 30) unless you're in the front 4 rows. That's about as good as it gets. The bad. The overall track access was just awful. Luxury of a bus driver doing all the hard work, but made it to the circuit only to take over 2 hours on Saturday and 3 on Sunday to get in. It was even worse on exiting. There's no way the track can cope with 280,000 fans trying to get out both on foot to their cars (shuffled for an hour to reach the exit and we were near, those with Bronze tickets had lots further to go to get out). The coordination to get out from the car/bus park was non-existent and a free for all. The police did little to nothing other than observe frustrated drivers jostling with others to get out. 4 hours later we'd made it the 1km to reach the outer limits and were moving. Overall, the price was not worth that hassle and the facilities are beyond atrocious. Even with a gated entrance to the stand, the toilets were shared with everybody and quickly filled up so became over-subscribed by midday Saturday - not emptied for Sunday. Urine flowed all over the thoroughfare between the food stalls (which charged a premium price for chips - £8/portion). It's a real shame, but whilst I enjoyed the racing (and indeed witnessed history), I will not be coming back. The price is not worth the experience.

Eau Rouge - fantastic view!

We've wanted to come to Spa for 20 years and this visit exceeded our expectations! The track is in a gorgeous setting and is a beautiful place to walk around when you're not watching action on the track. It's a big climb up the hill to our stand (Gold 3) but no problems. Good food at the track as well. A bit pricey, but you expect that, so it didn't matter to us. They do allow people to bring their own food in to save money. Very crowded, with over 100,000 people on Sunday, but everyone was generally courteous. Washrooms were flush toilets near where we sat, with running water to wash. I did see portable toilets, too but in my one attempt to use a portable toilet, I found it wet (dirty) and no where to hang my bag. I certainly would not have put my bag on the floor. Understandably, these toilets are hard to keep clean. They're better for men to use. All in all, it was an amazing experience. We walked the track after the race and then walked some areas we hadn't seen before. Leaving the track on Sunday was hard. There were so much traffic, even 2 hours after the race, that we were stuck in a big queue. I think it was a matter of traffic not being properly directed. They might want to review that. We had a fantastic time and would love to return!

Spa 2018

We chose a package involving bus from Brussels Nord with inclusive programmes and earplugs. The meeting point instruction was unhelpful, (Rue de Progres - bus stop near the main entrance of the station) and probably incorrect. It would be much better to include a downloadable photograph and have better ID for the bus, or a man with a big sign to make a line. We ended up in a large scrum with a second bus having to be summoned. The bus left at 07.00 but we didn't arrive at the circuit until about 11.00; just in time for the end of the GP2 race. We went straight away to find seats and returned to try and redeem Programme voucher. This was unsuccessful, because they were all sold out. Viewing from Gold 3 at Eau Rouge was excellent but the big screen was about 100m away making some things a bit small to follow. Bus left at 16.30 prompt but did not get back to Brussels north until 21.00 primarily due to the difficulty of leaving the circuit. I could also write better information about the day and what to expect but maybe another time.
